I have spent the past 10 years trying to nail down the perfect sunless tanning routine. I can very much remember the 2010 version of me walking around in my bright yellow Victoria’s Secret PINK tracksuit, white Air Force 1 sneakers and a very bad fake tan thanks to Jergens. I was a sight to see and the sad part was- I thought it looked good! I was streaky, patchy and smelly. Yes, smelly! If you know anything about sunless tanning, there is a good chance you know or remember the very unique smell that DHA leaves behind. It’s not pleasant but we endure a lot in the name of beauty.
I have come a long way and through lots of personal ” research” I have narrowed down what does and doesn’t work for me. A small list of pros and cons that I follow in order to achieve the perfect glow- if you will.
When I was approached by Golden Star Beauty, I was instantly attracted to the sleek black packaging and list of ingredients I could actually pronounce. Things like Jojoba Oil, Avocado Oil, Coconut Oil, Argan Oil, Aloe Vera and Hyaluronic Acid- just to name a few. They provide a more natural approach to a gradual tan. I could not wait to try a cleaner option for tanning at home.

Pros:
When ordering these products, you have the option to order the correct application tools. I tried 3 of their products: the face serum, the body lotion and the body oil. The serum was easy enough to use with my finger tips. For the lotion, I was provided a double sided mitt to protect my hands and for the oil, I was provided black rubber gloves. I was excited to try their recommended application tools since they were similar yet different than my usual ones.
These products left my skin feeling nourished. I felt good about the products I was putting onto my skin and did not experience any irritation or issues.
These products smell incredible! This is likely due to the cleaner ingredients. They smell like a tropical vacation- it was so very pleasant.
Cons:
The only thing I didn’t like about these products was that I had a hard time accounting for where I had and hadn’t applied the products. One of my must features to a sunless tanner is a color guide/guard that most leave behind. This tends to help create a more even tan. Although I was by no means streaky, I still felt like my coverage could have been more even. This also could be due to my lack of patience and my need to get things done quickly. If I slow down and pay good attention, there would be no issue. One pro to this con: my sheets weren’t a tanned mess the next morning after allowing the product to sit overnight.

Would I recommend these products: sure! They are nourishing, smell great and do create a nice all over tan. These products are available linked in my LTK page or can be purchased from their website. If you do decide to try them, you can use “Pearls15” for 15% off your entire purchase.
