Last week during my Friday 5 round up, I shared new things I have been addition to my home workspace. Every so often I venture back into the office and when I do- it is all about the outfit. I know that sounds a little crazy but it’s true! It is an excuse to get dressed up in something other than casual work from home clothes and talk to real coworkers (don’t tell my dogs, they’ll be offended). As we start talking about transitioning into fall, it’s key to look at pieces that will get you set up for success without breaking the bank. I’ve curated a few favorite finds that are worth every penny and will likely last you for years to come.
Dark Khaki Trench Coat | Old Navy
When I tell you that I have spent over a month searching for a trench coat in a color like this- I do not exaggerate. I recently watched Anatomy of a Scandal on Netflix- a very binge worthy mini series. In one of the scenes, Sienna Miller leaves her house and is walking about wearing a beautiful butternut brown colored coat over a black on black outfit. I can still recall the image from memory anytime I want- it was that impressionable. Since that day, I have been on the hunt until I found this trench. It isn’t quite the same color but it fits the look I am going for, was in my budget and will get many uses out of it. I ordered and love the Medium Petite. Linked here.
Boyfriend Button Down | Old Navy
This isn’t the first time and surely wont be the last that you hear about this button down. I have it in almost all of the colorways, fabrics and patterns it is made in. I love that it is slightly bigger than the classic women’s button down but allows for more room in the body- where I would argue, most adult women need it most. I love that I can confidently and comfortable wear it buttoned up without worrying that it will buckle at my chest. I have it in my true to side Medium. Linked here.
High Waist Pixie Pants | Old Navy
Skinny pants and jeans may not be having their moment right now but they will always be “in” to me. Old Navy recently revamped their Pixie Pants- for the better. They are made from the same tried and true favorite stretch fabric but now come with a high rise. This is a major plus- they act almost like a Spanx, control top to suck you in without being uncomfortable. I have them in a few colors and love them for all of life’s events- work, church, dinner, school, errands, date night- anywhere! I wear a size 8r. Linked here.
A New Day Tote| Target
If you haven’t shopped Target’s accessory departments, you are sleeping on a good thing. Target is up to date on trends and provide great closet staples are reasonable prices. I love their line A New Day and shop it often for handbags and shoes. Their tote bags make the perfect work bag- this one included. It is spacious and will keep you well organized for day to day or the office. Linked here.
Drop Pearl Earring | Amazon
A simple statement earring is always a closet staple for my work and play life. I love this twist on a classic pearl drop earring. Hoops and huggies have been trending a lot lately and I love how they mixed the style in this pair. Linked here.
Classic staple pieces are always my go to for work. The last thing I want to be doing before work is worrying about what to wear or worse- being uncomfortable all day while visiting the office. These pieces are easy to mix and match with and can be worn just about anywhere. As we move slowly into the fall season, having pieces that can transition well as a 4 season piece just makes sense.
Until then,
