Full transparency- this process took some time… Let me explain-
Year after year, I share in these posts that I love to pick a word to focus on. This is done in place of setting New Year’s resolutions. I dedicated some time to think it over and I accidentally picked words I have used before- twice. Consistent and discipline both skipped to the front of my mind and felt too familiar. Slightly ashamed, I did a quick google search and picked a new one that is better fitting for the year ahead.
This year will be the year of renewal.
Renewal in my faith journey
In the Summer of 2023, I spent a lot of time growing in my faith. I was reading the Bible daily, praying regularly and attending church weekly. As of today, I attend weekly, pray often and enjoy consuming scriptures and faith based content. Reflecting on that Summer, I remember how I felt during that time- it was a sense of peace, wholeness, and a sense of belonging with an unconditional love.
How will I experience a renewal in this area of my life? By making God a daily priority. Dedicating time in my routine to pray, read and be with God is what I am striving for.
(A deeper look: I must admit, I have always had a strong sense of faith in my life. Growing up and remaining a practicing Catholic is something I feel very tied to. My parents and grandmother emphasized the importance of a strong faith and as I have gotten older, I have found new ways to do this. Looking outside my own religion has helped me grow even more. For as long as I can remember, I have envied the relationship that other Christians have with Jesus and God. When I realized that I too could have that if I wanted to- the game changed. I enjoy following other Christian churches online and regularly listen to their pastoral messages. It helps me to feel more connected in a personal and approachable way.)
Renewal of positive habits
Over the years, I have shared what habits I had prior to creating this space on the internet. I loved listening to podcasts, journaling, having a daily gratitude practice, reading self help books in addition to finding new ways to create positive personal growth. I WANT THAT in 2025. Everyday was not perfect and there were plenty of days that I struggled to reach for positivity and growth. When I reflect back on the time in my life when I made the most positive changes despite times of trouble, having good daily habits is what I remember most.
How will I experience a renewal in this are? 2025 will be a renewal of spirit when it comes to all the things that make me feel good from the inside out. In times of stress, I’ll reach for journaling as a way to work through them. Listening to motivational podcasts while starting my day or on long walks will help me to connect with the best version of myself. Bringing back a gratitude practice will help me to center myself with the good- no matter how big or small it may be. Lastly, I am looking forward to spending dedicated time reading each day. These small daily steps will help to build a much more meaningful life.
In whatever way you like to motivate yourself at the start of each new year, I hope you find something that resonates deeply with you.
Here’s to a fresh start for both you and I- let’s get after it!
May all of your goals be achieved this year!
